History

Limmel has a rich and long history. The first time Limmel appears in history dates back to 1283. There are several websites dedicated to the history of Limmel. Below you will find various links to these sites. These links also include places where you can purchase reading material and/or video material.
At limmel.nl, we want to focus primarily on old photo and video material. Depending on what is available, a new slide show or video clip will be posted on this page on a regular basis.
Would you like to see your own material on the only official website of Limmel and would you like to share it? Please contact the editors of Limmel.nl. Thank you in advance!
We start with a slide show of old photographs accompanied by music.

Pastor Mulkenshof
Furthermore, on 2 February 2010, the Maastricht City Council decided to rename the square around Saraptaplein as of 1 January 2011 and to name the square located between Askalonstraat, Sionsweg, Sareptastraat and Dolmansstraat Pastor Mulkenshof. This was done at the request of the Limmel neighbourhood council several years ago. Once the construction and other work has been completed and the festive opening has taken place, the editors of limmel.nl will of course report on this in detail.
Thank you for the wonderful time and your commitment to Lummel!
