History and objectives of the Neighbourhood Network

The Limmel Neighbourhood Council Foundation was established in 1981 with the aim of creating conditions that enable local residents to make an optimal contribution to the liveability of the neighbourhood and the well-being and solidarity of its residents.

Over the past 20 years, BuurtNetWerk Limmel has been involved in a number of major projects, such as the A2 project and the widening of the Noorderbrug. Previous boards have committed themselves to the Neighbourhood Development Plan (2010-2016) and the agreements made therein with the aim of achieving a balanced structure of the neighbourhood in terms of population composition, owner-occupied and rented homes, and level of amenities. For several years now, Limmel has had the Integraal Kindcentrum de Geluksvogel (Integrated Child Centre) and a shopping centre.

Limmel's Top 10

As a starting point for the neighbourhood plan to be developed, a neighbourhood plan evening was organised in 2021 to identify the issues that the residents of Limmel considered important for their urban village.

These have been compiled in “The 10 of Limmel!”.

Neighbourhood survey 2023

In September 2023, a neighbourhood survey was organised as part of the environmental vision that came into effect in Maastricht.

Once again, residents were able to express their views on what is going well in Limmel and on issues that still need to be addressed.

Neighbourhood networkers

Neighbourhood networkers are local residents who feel involved in their neighbourhood and actively contribute ideas about matters that are important to Limmel. They also organise activities themselves and take on issues, such as the Neighbourhood for Neighbourhood Foundation, which organises all kinds of activities around Christmas together with CV de Braniemeekers. The Limmel Parents Foundation organises all kinds of activities for children, such as Halloween, summer games, etc. They meet during the neighbourhood networkers’ meetings, which are organised three times a year by the executive committee of the BuurtNetWerk.

If you are interested in getting to know us, please come to one of our meetings. The dates are announced on our website and in the Buurtpraot.

If you would like to raise a point at the meeting, please send an email in advance to bu*************@***il.com.

Uiteraard zijn ook mensen die gewoon willen participeren in de buurtraad van harte welkom. Neem contact met ons op.
